The Count of Monte Cristo
Had to recreate a book cover for a school project in 2012. Chose one of my favorite books by one of my favorite black authors - Alexander Dumas, otherwise known for The Three Musketeers, Georges, and The Man In the Iron Mask. I first attempted this project all in vector but went in another direction because it looked too boring. I wanted a cover that expressed the intensity of the story itself. 90% of the cover design was created by hand using pen & ink on the front and spine as well as a wood burning stylus for the "Monte Cristo" on the front. The only things created digitally consist of the wax "C" seal, the scarlet background color, and the back cover text. I really, really enjoyed creating this project!
